The Siege: The Saga of Israel and Zionism
Conor Cruise O'Brien
O'Brien, a scholar, former diplomat, and Irish politician, has written a highly prized history of Israel and Zionism. His historical analysis and interpretive critique is based on voluminous sources and knowledge of the secondary literature. His insights and reflections concerning zionism and the Jewish People have become a source for greater understanding of the conflicts surrounding the state of Israel.
This is an extremely well written, filled with a unique appraisal of the Jewish-Arab conflicts, and an equally impressive examination that traces the history of Zionism from it's very origins to the establishment of the State of Israel and to the time that the book was written in 1986.
